Here is another Hands on experiment when you want to have fun while learning about Science!
Objective: To explore how air pressure and force can create motion using a simple balloon rocket.
Materials Needed:
🚀 Balloon
🚀 Drinking straw
🚀 String (about 10 feet long)
🚀 Tape
🚀 Two objects to tie the string (like a door knob or two chairs)
Build Balloon Rocket:
1. Set Up the Track: Stretch the string between two objects, such as a door handle or two chairs. Make sure the string is tight and level.
2. Prepare the Balloon: Thread the straw onto the string. Then, tape the balloon to the straw. Make sure the balloon is taped securely but is still able to move freely along the string.
3. Inflate the Balloon: Without tying the balloon, blow air into it and pinch the end to keep the air inside.
4. Launch the Rocket: Let go of the balloon’s opening and watch it rocket along the string! The balloon will move because the air inside is escaping, pushing the balloon in the opposite direction.
5. Observe and Repeat: Try different balloon sizes or test if the rocket moves faster or slower depending on how much air is inside.
